Moin from Hamburg!

Do you know that feeling when your home is suddenly taken over by a colourful chaos of children's toys? That's exactly what we experienced when we became parents. Bright, garish colours everywhere, and us in the middle of it all, looking for beautiful toys and practical accessories that we parents like too and that still fit our budget. Not that easy, is it?

That's when we thought: Why don't we make them ourselves? High-quality, stylish and still affordable. Toys and accessories that not only encourage play, but also look good in any home. Modern design and muted colours.

It was a small challenge to get our (in-law) parents excited about this vision for bieco, but together we made it! 66 years of tradition, and with the change of generations we reinvented ourselves and created a range that is not only educationally valuable, but also a real eye-catcher.

We have been on this new path since 2020 and are super proud of it. And you know what? It looks like we're not the only ones who love our new direction. See for yourself!

For a beautiful home

Forget the garish, brightly coloured jumble! Inspired by the cool Scandi style, our toys not only provide plenty of fun for little ones, but also score points with their decorative value. In short, they are exactly what we would want in our own four walls too. The understated design blends harmoniously into your modern interior. So you can safely put off tidying up a little longer. Our motto: Less chaos, more fun and learning!

Buying guide: Who is it for?

The wooden raft with sail appeals to families who like simple, sturdy toys with a natural feel and value a tidy design. It is suitable for children who love imaginative and role play, for example around adventures, travel, and little stories. Parents who prefer durable materials will find the combination of wood and metal a solid choice for everyday use. The raft can be incorporated into play both in the nursery and near water under supervision. As a gift for occasions such as a birthday or as a small token, it’s a compact idea. Since the recommended age is from 24 months, it is especially suitable for toddlers who are already discovering their first role play and want to grasp and place objects deliberately.

What to look for in wooden toys for water play

  • Material quality: Look for cleanly finished wooden parts and sturdy connections with metal so edges are smooth and parts fit securely.
  • Size and grip: The toy should fit well in children’s hands from 24 months and be easy to carry or move.
  • Care & drying: After contact with moisture, gently wipe and let dry to support material care.
  • Safe use: When playing near water, supervision is important; choose play areas so everything remains easily accessible.
  • Simple shapes: Simple, clear shapes encourage open-ended play without distraction and leave room for imagination.

Ideas for use / play ideas

  • Make up a little sea voyage and give the raft a name – who or what is sailing along today?
  • Build a harbor out of building blocks and steer the raft to different docks.
  • Use a cloth as the “sea” and tell a story about wind and waves.
  • Arrange figures or natural materials (e.g. pine cones, small stones) around the raft to create a coastal landscape.
  • Create a color or shape scavenger hunt: Which things in the room visually match the sail?
  • Practice gentle pushing and holding to recreate movements and changes of direction.
  • Create a small exhibition in the nursery where the raft plays the leading role.
  • Do a role play: Who is the captain, who is the pilot, who is waving from the shore?
  • Count together how many objects the raft has “visited” around it.
  • Make a map on paper and mark the raft’s “travel route”.

Care & safety

  • Care: Clean with a damp cloth and mild soap.
