Moin from Hamburg!

Do you know that feeling when your home is suddenly taken over by a colourful chaos of children's toys? That's exactly what we experienced when we became parents. Bright, garish colours everywhere, and us in the middle of it all, looking for beautiful toys and practical accessories that we parents like too and that still fit our budget. Not that easy, is it?

That's when we thought: Why don't we make them ourselves? High-quality, stylish and still affordable. Toys and accessories that not only encourage play, but also look good in any home. Modern design and muted colours.

It was a small challenge to get our (in-law) parents excited about this vision for bieco, but together we made it! 66 years of tradition, and with the change of generations we reinvented ourselves and created a range that is not only educationally valuable, but also a real eye-catcher.

We have been on this new path since 2020 and are super proud of it. And you know what? It looks like we're not the only ones who love our new direction. See for yourself!

For a beautiful home

Forget the garish, brightly coloured jumble! Inspired by the cool Scandi style, our toys not only provide plenty of fun for little ones, but also score points with their decorative value. In short, they are exactly what we would want in our own four walls too. The understated design blends harmoniously into your modern interior. So you can safely put off tidying up a little longer. Our motto: Less chaos, more fun and learning!

Buying guide: Who is it suitable for?

The Maracas 2-piece hedgehog set is suitable if you are looking for a simple wooden rhythm toy that blends well with existing wooden toys. Thanks to the two-piece set, simple sound patterns can be imitated or used as a duo. The compact shape makes it easy to grip and shake and fits well into everyday life – whether during singing together, free play, or as a quiet activity idea. Thanks to the wooden design, the set suits natural play environments and can be combined with other wooden toys. If you are looking for a small gift or an addition to music and grasping toys, this set is an uncomplicated choice. Cleaning is straightforward, which makes it easier to use in everyday family life.

What to look out for when choosing maracas

  • Material: Look for a wooden version if you prefer a natural feel and a sturdy look.
  • Size and handling: Compact shapes usually fit better in small hands and are suitable for everyday use.
  • Sound: For beginners, gentle sounds that are not too loud are enough and provide pleasant stimulation.
  • Surface: A smooth feel without sharp edges supports a comfortable grip.
  • Care: Products that can be cleaned with a damp cloth and mild soap are practical for everyday use.
  • Intended use: Consider whether you will use the set at home, on the go, or as an addition to other wooden toys.

Ideas for use / play ideas

  • Clap along to the beat and shake the maracas alternately to practice simple rhythm sequences.
  • Call and response: One person sets a short shaking pattern, the other responds with the same pattern.
  • Sound search: Shake softly, medium-loud, and more strongly and name how the sounds differ.
  • Accompany a favorite song: During a familiar children's song, mark the beats during the choruses.
  • Stop game: Play music, accompany it with maracas, and stop immediately at the stop signal.
  • Card rhythm: Colored dots or symbols show how many times to shake – play along together.
  • Change of direction: Shake alternately with the right and left hand to practice coordination.
  • Tempo journey: Start slowly and gradually increase the tempo, then slow down again.
  • Sound walk: Walk around the room and, in certain places, play only softly or only short impulses.
  • Duet: One maraca keeps the basic tempo, the other adds accents on every second beat.
