Toys made of wood & fabric

Play is part of everyday life for babies and children—and a way to learn at the same time. In this collection, depending on the current range, you’ll find suitable examples—from teething rings from 0 months to fishing games from 24 months. The selection guide below summarizes what parents should look out for regarding age, materials, and care. Please always use products under adult supervision.

Selection guide: age, materials, care

• Age: Follow the age recommendation on the product. Examples here range from from 0 months (teething rings, activity toys) to from 24 months (fishing game).
• Materials: Depending on the product, you’ll find food-grade silicone, wood (e.g., beech), or polyethylene balls. Choose what fits your everyday routine.
• Care: Many items can be cleaned with a damp cloth and mild soap. Do not submerge wooden parts in water and allow them to air-dry (see the individual product details).
• Labels & notes: When buying toys, always look for clear age labeling and safety warnings. The EU Toy Safety Directive (2009/48/EC) – overview provides guidance on EU toy regulations.
• Buying advice: The Verbraucherzentrale offers practical tips on what to look for when buying toys in general (e.g., workmanship, materials).

Typical use situations

• First year of life: Grasping, exploring by touch, chewing—gentle stimulation is key. You can find tips and ideas for play in the first 12 months at kindergesundheit-info.de.
• On the go: Compact teething rings or an activity element are easy to take with you.
• At home: Ball sets are great for filling a small ball pit; make sure there’s enough space and store small parts safely.
• From around age 2: First rule-based and skill games such as fishing games help build patience and hand-eye coordination—always use according to the age recommendation.

Addressing concerns: Is it right for us? Safety & notes

• “Is it age-appropriate?” – Follow the age recommendation for the specific product. Age guidance helps prevent overwhelm and reduces risks related to small parts.
• “How do I choose materials?” – Silicone is usually easy to wipe clean; wood feels pleasantly warm to the touch but should not be submerged in water; polyethylene balls are lightweight and durable—please refer to the product details.
• “How can I recognize safe products?” – In general, clear warning and age labels help, as do EU requirements for toy safety (see EU overview) and independent buying advice from the Verbraucherzentrale. For playful development, kindergesundheit-info.de provides age-related background information.
